131 The Island Drive, Pigeon Forge, TN 37863
Open seven days a week 10am to 11 pm

Bootleggers Homemade Wine began with two country winemakers who just happen to be sisters.  To create the finest homegrown Appalachian wines, we start from scratch using the best fruit and the same small-batch recipes folks in these parts perfected long ago.  There are no machines or fancy equipment, just the the stuff you'd find in the kitchens throughout the South.  We even bottle each batch by hand.  It ain't California or France, just great homemade wine - and when you pop open a bottle you'll surely know it came from the mountains.

Our family was raised on this property along Goodwater Road.  Doctors Michael & Carol Hood had two children, Laura and Matthew.  Michael and Carol had always loved fine wines and found the idea of having a vineyard to be romantic.  In 2004 Michael, his son Matthew, brother-in-law Steve, and neighbor Ron Moorfield planted the first two vineyards.  They quickly learned that grapevines are possibly the most labor intensive crop.  Michael and Carol happily invited their daughter Laura back home from Japan to help manage the farm.  She fell in love with her future winemaker Gene Poland, who would help the family plan their fguture winery.  After much trial and error, they ended up with around 30 acres of native muscandines and a few varieties of French hybrid grapes.
